Our History

As we soar into the third millennium, McKechnie already has a history of more than a century of increasingly sophisticated manufacturing. The company evolved from finishers of non-ferrous metals, vertically integrated into the manufacture of non-ferrous components, and then broadened into replacement materials such as high specification metals and polymers. By the end of the 20th century, McKechnie emerged as specialist engineers providing "lowest cost of ownership" technical solutions to global aerospace, luxury automotive, IT and mobile telecommunications industries.

Entering the aerospace industry in 1994, the company grew rapidly (40% per annum compound), and built up a portfolio of high-tech businesses that are global niche leaders in proprietary engineered products and subsystems.

McKechnie Aerospace companies have a proud heritage, from the very beginnings of the aerospace industry, in designing, developing and delivering pioneering solutions. We were first in the field, and continue to be so, with many innovations. We refer to the combination of pioneering and solutions as “Solutioneering”.

Today

McKechnie Aerospace has exploited its solutioneering excellence to develop the world’s smallest and lightest force sensor rod, learn-mode door opening actuation systems, single handle multi-point latching systems and remote operation hold-open rods. Our design competencies, pioneering solutions and speed of response have placed us at the forefront of advanced engineering work on many aerospace platforms including the Airbus A380.
