FEBRUARY 24, 2004 - U.K. based McKechnie Aerospace announced today that Linread Northbridge, a member of its Aerospace Fasteners Group, has entered into an expanded agreement with Airbus calling for the company to manufacture a larger percentage of fasteners used in the production of Airbus Aircraft. The contract, which has the distinction of being the single largest contract of its type ever won by Linread Northbridge, is expected to nearly triple the amount of fastener business McKechnie will do with Airbus over the next four years.
Under the terms of the contract, Linread Northbridge will be supporting Airbus in Germany, France, Spain and the UK .. By structuring the Fastener Commodity into packages to consolidate total demand, Airbus wanted to achieve a step change reduction in price. Linread Northbridge was able to support Airbus in this regard by focusing on what needed to be done to be their supplier of choice.
According to Paul Brown, Sales Director of Linread Northbridge, "Our organization views this as a major step forward and we're exceptionally pleased to have earned such a significant amount of additional business from Airbus." He added that, "The decision to utilize the McKechnie Aerospace Fasteners Group for a larger percentage of the total fastener requirement was in part due to an overall initiative by Airbus to reduce its supplier base to increase efficiency and lower cost of components and production. This initiative is in tune with our organization's own strategic direction, and as a key supplier of fasteners we'll be able to play a proactive role in assisting Airbus in this effort."
